I am back!!
Hailey turned 8 on July 29th. We celebrated with some family and friends by having a BBQ at the lake just like she wanted. It was a lot of fun. It is really hard to believe how fast she has grown up.
August 3rd thru the 9th we survived our first county fair. For those of you who may not have every had this experience let me explain. Alyssa is in 4-H, and so through out the year she works on projects to present/show at fair. So this year she participated in shooting sports, where she continued to learn and improver her shooting skills (yes, with a gun). Cooking, she ended up taking cookies and banana bread to fair. Horse, she barrel races and rides in a timed event where she has to weave the horse in and out of poles. And last, but certainly not least swine. Yes as in pigs. So because of this last project we got the pleasure of all of us living in Rawlins, Wyoming for a week. It was a lot of fun, and definitely a new experience for me (Byron did this for almost every summer of his life growing up so for him it was nothing new, although he did comment that fair is a lot more fun when you are a kid.) Alyssa did an awesome job showing her pig and we were very proud of her. Hailey was an awesome helper, and the boys had a great time playing in the dirt and water fighting. Although it was a lot of fun Alyssa and Hailey had a really hard time selling the pig and saying good bye to him.(I must admit I shed a few tears too, it was a lot harder than even I thought it would be.) But I was told that the first year is the hardest, and getting the check in the mail makes it a little better(still waiting to see if this is true). But the kids all still had a great time, Brayden even got to hold an albino corn snake.(sorry i couldn't figure out how to flip the picture.)
And the best part is that I survived fair week, I think they should hand out medals for that :) And now that Hailey is eight she is already looking forward to next year when she too can bring animals and such to fair. I think that by then I may have re-couped enough to be ready again, but only time will tell.
